On 8 February 2016 – a delegation of three Ambassadors from Denmark, Netherlands and Norway and the Head of DFID Somalia - whose countries contribute to the Somaliland Development Fund (SDF) - visited two projects currently implemented by the Fund. It has been over 143 years since Julius Sterling Morton, an American environmental activist, founded Arbor Day (Tree Day). His simple idea of setting aside a special day for trees is now a practice that has expanded throughout the world to promote important environmental issues. In Somaliland, there are serious concerns about worsening environment conditions mainly due to the manmade reasons of charcoal production, deforestation, urbanization and weak conservation.
